It's a sad day in the world of music today as Michael "King of Pop" Jackson has died. I've always thought of Michael Jackson as this generation's Elvis Presley. So his passing at a young age, under strange circumstances, while sad, doesn't surprise me. And like Presley before him, millions of fans will be mourning for years to come. "Neverland" will be to this generation what Graceland was to that of Presley's era. There will be candlelight vigils, huge gatherings, and mourning all over again each June 25th for many years. And like Presley, Michael Jackson's music will live on forever and the gazillion albums he sold will etch his place in music history--also as it has for Elvis. But the most bizarre thing about today for me is it almost appears as if Jackson knew he was "Elvis" incarnate, because he lived his strange life as if he knew it was meant to be that way. And to me, that's sad.
