Fuel of War at Paintball Central

The newly scenario-friendly Paintball Central Greensboro Park hosted their most recent scenario game in early October, 2008. After significant improvements to their Greensboro Park to make its wooded fields much more conducive to scenario play and the promotion of several games at the facility, Paintball Central is rapidly earning a name as a great scenario destination in the Carolinas.

With a futuristic theme pitting the forces of the Eastern portion of the world against the West in combat over the world’s remaining natural resources, Paintball Central’s October game was called “Fuel of War.” In addition to several scenario players and teams attending the game, numerous tournament players from teams like Baltimore Trauma, Raiden and Gridlock joined the game and certainly kept things interesting.

Thanks to years as one of the region’s premiere playing fields, Paintball Central’s amenities were certainly up to the task of keeping the players happy. Push button air fills to 4,000psi were readily available and the private-labeled PBC paintballs shot straight and broke on target. Food and drinks were also available, as were picnic tables and covered staging areas. Even the weather cooperated and all that was left was to actually play paintball.

Paintball Central’s newly remodeled woodsball field already featured rolling terrain with a large creek bisecting the field length-wise and plenty of large trees. An open area in the middle of the field stocked with plenty of man-made bunkers favored speedball players while the rest of the field was thick with underbrush allowing stealthy players to snipe, creep and crawl. Added to the field for scenario players were new forts at both ends of the field offering multi-story protection for plenty of players, earthworks, trenches, pillboxes, bridges and tank trails. The finished product is an extremely enjoyable paintball field perfect for scenario play.

With nearly 80 players of every skill level from day-one rookies to professionals armed with everything from Tippmanns to DM8’s slinging paint back and forth, Paintball Central’s Fuel of War game was intense. The game offered something for everyone, with some players opting to creep and crawl through the creek or sneak deep into the woods on the far tape away from the staging area, while others opted to smash each other head-to-head in the more sparsely wooded area in the middle of the field. The game surged up and down the hill throughout the day, but by the afternoon the blue team took the game in hand and pushed, shoved and shot the red team all the way back into their base where they stayed until the end of the event when everyone staggered off to collect prizes, stuff dirty paint-covered gear back into their cars and head home.

Paintball Central’s third scenario game since the extensive upgrades to their wooded fields, Fuel of War was a fun, exciting, well-written game of paintball. As Paintball Central continues to promote their oldest field as a new scenario location for new and experienced players, their games should continue to grow in both size and scope. Expect more scenario games from the largest paintball store and field chain in the southeast in 2009. For more information visit PaintballCentral.com.
