Tippmann Expands Popular X7 Phenom Marker Platform
News - Latest
Thursday, 09 September 2010 07:07

Since its introduction in late 2009, the X7 Phenom from Tippmann Sports has taken the paintball world by storm. Today, the company is proud to announce that the X7 Phenom platform is expanding with the introduction of a mechanical-only version of the popular marker as well as several new tactical-style magazines. The new mechanical-only X7 Phenom is designed for those players who may not have the need or desire to use electronics as well as those who may simply want to invest in electronics later, but want to reap the benefits of the marker’s FlexValve technology immediately. As previously announced, the FlexValve operates below 300 PSI for improved air efficiency, giving players more than 1,400 shots from a single 68 cubic-inch, 4500 PSI tank. It also offers the flexibility to use either CO2 or compressed air, and virtually eliminates recoil for significantly-enhanced accuracy.

“We wanted to build upon the X7 Phenom platform due to player feedback and the very strong response to the marker’s FlexValve technology,” said Denny Tippmann, Jr., senior vice president of research and development for Tippmann Sports. “By incorporating the FlexValve into a slightly simplified and lower priced marker, the enhanced play offered through the technology is now open to a larger number of players – and that’s important to us. We’re excited to now offer the first mechanical-shooting marker that truly provides an electro-pneumatic feel.”

The new mechanical-only version of the X7 Phenom uses the same selector switch as the original marker, but offers just two modes – safety and mechanical – as opposed to the five modes available on the electro-pneumatic model. If a player chooses to upgrade to electronics later, an eGrip can be purchased as a separate accessory and easily added. The electronic upgrade allows players to program the board to five different firing modes that can shoot up to the maximum ASTM standard of 15 balls-per-second.

In addition to the mechanical-only X7 Phenom model, Tippmann has also developed three new magazines for the X7 Phenom platform. Now players can quickly give their X7 Phenom markers the look of an M16, AK-47 and G36 – three of the more popular gun styles among woodsball and scenario players.

Each of the new magazines fits easily into the existing mag well. A new trigger guard is also included. All three of the new magazines will retail for $19.95, the same as the current X7 magazines.

“Like all X7 magazines, the new M16, AK-47 and G36 options also work as a handy tool kit,” Denny Tippmann added. “This feature, which allows players to carry Allen wrenches and extra oil at all times, has proven to be very popular among current X7 players.”
