From the Frigid North – Canadian Report, By Tom “Tomcat” Cunningham

The season, while still a bit early is just beginning, many of the winter scenario’s are wrapping up with Hoth at Area 51 on February 21st, Frozen Ghost at Adrenaline on February 28th, Red Dawn at Flag Raiders on March 1st, Frosty’s Revenge at Wasaga Beach on March 14th, DMZ March Break Big Game on March 17th and Arctic Storm at Soldiers of Fortune on March 21st….these being the games I am at least aware of.

Field owners are slowly but surely announcing their official opening dates for what promises the very best season of paintball in Canadian history to date.

Other paintball related items of interest to our community are how the new Tippmann pistol will prove itself on the battlefield not to mention many awaiting the release of the new Tiberius Sniper rounds with some anticipation.

It has been particularly interesting to see some of the teams that we have grown up with establish themselves including BlackOps and BlackThorn to name a couple…..BlackOps and the Canadian Tactical Series and BlackThorn with the Offensive Action Scenario Series….many teams I know are gearing up in anticipation of one or the other or both. It will be extremely interesting to see how it all plays out in both series and who emerges the winners of these events overall.

In these tough economic times, everybody is looking for ways to save money & still stay in the game...with that in mind, here are some of the sweet deals & field discounts available in the Northern California area that can help all of us "budget ballers" maximize our paintball resources:

Norcal Paintball Park (www.norcalpaintballpark.com)in Petaluma holds a paintball swap meet on the first Sunday of every month - bring your used stuff to sell or just hunt for bargains...Plus, active duty Armed Services members get an automatic 1/2 off registration.

I stopped by Pev’s new Aldie, Virginia location this week. All I can say is “wow,” the place is amazing. Located on some prime real estate right on Route 15 with lots of road frontage, the field/store is visible to 20,000 cars per day according to Mike Peverill, owner. Right now they have six airball fields. One with beautiful turf, five with grass and another turf field just being finished. They also have a town field with tons of buildings, a must-see “caves” field, a huge fort/village field, and they’re getting ready to add two woodsball fields. They also have a great fully stocked pro-shop on site.

I picked up this info while I was there.

Midwest Report By  Jameson "Whiskyfoy" Ford

I think a big game to note would be Living Legends 2.  Below is the information on the game, the original write ups are from Sean Scott from Smart Parts.  There is a detailed description of the game in the General Scenario Chat section of the PBX3 forums.

"When: May 29-31. (this is the weekend AFTER memorial day weekend)
Where: CPX Sports, Joliet, IL.
Producer: Viper Scenarios

Smart Parts and Draxxus are coming together again to bring you the Encore performance of one of the most talked about games of 2008, Living Legends. Craig Miller will once again be joining us to general one side as I will be the general of the other. We will be shooting Draxxus paint and we are still working out more details as well.

As you can see, I put 29th, which is a Friday, on the date. This will be a special day as I am putting together games and contests with big prize packages that will be sponsored by different manufacturers across paintball, so get there early to partake in all of the festivities going on all day!! If you have never been to CPX, you should go. Beautiful fields with an amazing parking lot, pro shop, running water, toilets that flush, nice camping area, and much much more.

This game was the brainstorm of myself, Paul Dagnino from CPX, and Craig Miller. We were sitting around one day telling stories of the old IAO days and how much we missed them. So, we decided to bring that fun and industry excitement back in the form of a scenario game. With only 3 months of planning, we pulled off a game that was nearly 700 players!!! This was one of the most perfect scenario games that I have ever been to. The Draxxus X-Ball silver shot flawless, the air supplied by paintball central was non-stop, the game produced by Viper was a blast, and CPX welcomed us with open arms. With as big of a success we had last time, we plan on making it bigger and better, for you the players.

How often can you play along industry giants and laugh and giggles on shooting people at the same time. Heck, Jim Lively, the creator of national tournament paintball, blew up my base with a C-4 satchel charge! The look on all these industry people running around on the field having a great time was an awe aspiring site to see. Dan Kolby said that the Living Legends game brought back the love of paintball again because of how much fun it was.

I will be posting more info and press releases as we get towards the date. I just wanted to get the date out there so people can start to plan as well."
