The Paintball X3 Team

John Amodea, Founder/Editor: John Amodea played his first game of paintball in 1985 in the wooded fields of Skirmish USA in Jim Thorpe, Pennsylvania. Three years later he was playing not only recreational paintball games, but traveling the northeast and competing in regional paintball events. In 1989 he opened a paintball field in Virginia called Virginia Badlands and shortly thereafter won a national title in the NPPL as a high level amateur player on the team Phantom Force. In 1991 John joined professional competition paintball team Bad Company, traveling around the U.S. and to places like Australia, England and mainland Europe on the pro circuit.

In 1991 John founded a magazine called Paintball Consumer Reports International (PCRI) which was instrumental in the development of safety in the paintball market and he has worked in paintball publishing ever since. In 1993 he cofounded Pev’s Paintball Supply, a retail store chain that now has more than ten locations around the United States. In 1996 John was voted one of the top 50 players in the world by Paintball Games International magazine. He is also the author of the Survival Guide series of paintball gun tech manuals and he has served as the paintball guide at About.com, one of the world’s largest information websites. In 2004, as editor of Paintball 2Xtremes Magazine, John was the main script writer for the magazine’s television show, Paintball 2Xtremes TV, which aired originally on Spike TV and later on the Outdoor Life Network (OLN). Brenda Seefeldt, Publisher: Brenda Seefeldt is a nationally published feature writer for several magazines and has served as a consultant to Paintball 2Xtremes Magazine for seven years. Brenda earned her Bachelor of Science Degree from North Central Bible College (now called north Central University) and or the past 15 years she has studied the youth culture in America, publishing hundreds of resources on that subject. 

 

 

 

Jeff Deubert, Senior Designer: Jeff has been in the paintball industry for nearly three years, all of which were spent as the sole graphic designer for Paintball 2Xtremes Magazine.  Prior to joining the PB2X team he spent five years with three companies, one of which was Mattel Toys (Tyco R/C Division), with the other two companies being small design studios in Central NJ & South Florida.  His passion is traditional print design and Jeff is also a sports junkie, so paintball is a natural fit for him.  Jeff currently resides in South Jersey with his wife Beth, three dogs, and baby son Justin.

 

 

 

Tim Larson, Photo Director: Tim Larson has been practicing the fine art of professional sports photography for more than 20 years. He currently owns Tampa Sports Photography and is Director of Riverbank Syndications, a television production and syndication company in Tampa, Florida. In addition to shooting paintball Tim has shot numerous sports including NCAA Football, NASCAR, NHL and MLB and Tim's photos frequent the pages and websites of magazines such as Sports Illustrated, Sporting News, ESPN and other media outlets like CNN and various newspapers.

 

 

Meagan Foster, Senior Photographer: Meagan Foster (or Meggie, Meg, Scooter) grew up in a small town in Florida and was raised on a horse farm.  She attended college in Daytona Beach and earned her degree in photography in 2007. After years of resisting her brother's requests to photograph paintball Meagan finally gave it a shot and fell in love with the game. Meagan loves to travel, take pics and meet new people, so say "hi" if you see her on the field.

 

 

 

Josh Silverman, Associate Editor: Joshua D. Silverman began playing paintball in Northern Virginia at Virginia Adventure Games in the summer of 1993. Immediately hooked on the game Josh walked into a new paintball store called Pev's not long after and met owners Mike Peverill and John Amodea, who were also publishing a paintball newspaper, PCRI. Before long, Josh was working for both and by the time he left for college at Campbell University in North Carolina, he was a well-published writer and photographer. While studying history at college, Josh continued to play and work paintball, running stores and fields, promoting scenario games and eventually tournaments as well. Josh was hired as Assistant Editor of Paintball 2Xtremes Magazine in 2000, where he worked for five years before taking an Associate Editor's position at Paintball Games International Magazine. Published in Facefull Magazine, Paintball Sports Magazine, Action Pursuit Games Magazine, Crossfire Paintball Magazine, Paintball News, PCRI and Splat Magazine in addition to Paintball 2Xtremes and PGi, Josh also helped promote the largest regional paintball league in the world, the CFOA, for several years before joining the Paintball X3 team.

 

Cody Larson ThumbnailCody Larson, Director of Internet Marketing / Photographer: Cody followed the footsteps of just about every male in his family and eventually made his way onto the paintball field in 2006 at the PSP World Cup event. Since then he has been taken under his father's wing as a photographer for Tampa Sports Photography. Now forever infected with the paintball bug, Cody shoots regional and national events for Paintball X3 and is actually the President of the University of South Florida College Paintball Team. As a student at USF Cody is a member of numerous organizations, including the Sigma Chi Fraternity. When he is not taking pictures he works for a Tampa, Florida based internet marketing firm, Great White Marketing, specializing in Search Engine Optimization (SEO) . Kat Thompson, Feature Writer/Photographer: Kat is a mom of six, with five boys and one girl. She's been a photographer for many years and has developed a passion for action photography. Her work has been featured in Paintball 2Xtremes Magazine for several years and her website, Katspix, is one of the most frequented sites in paintball. You'll see Kat out at the local So Cal fields almost every weekend and at most major paintball tournaments.

 

 

 

Matt Holland, Feature Writer/Photographer: Matt has been involved with paintball since 2000, when he began playing local tournaments.  In 2006 he got started in paintball photography and writing after taking a break from playing while he was busy being a poor college student.  He covers every kind of paintball, from local and national tournaments and charity games, to scenario games and college paintball.

 

 

 

Gary Baum, Feature Photographer: Gary Baum has shot all forms of paintball all over the world for more paintball publications and companies than any other active photographer in his industry. He is one of the most familiar faces in tournament and scenario paintball in North America. He is one of the few paintball photographers that photographs every aspect of the sport from airsoft to paintball scenarios to major international tournaments

Gary is based in Southern California and has been involved in Paintball for over 20 years he has been photographing all types of paintball events all over North America, Latin America and Europe. He was one of the pioneers of paintball photography and is the owner of the largest paintball photography web site www.paintballphotography.com. His photos have appeared in all the major paintball publications and media.

 

Matt Aman, Photographer: Matt hails from Detroit, Michigan and is a former player turned paintball photographer. Although Matt is a relative newcomer to paintball photography, he attends many Great Lakes regional paintball events and a handful of national level tournaments each year. 

 

 

 

 

Lorrie Lee Jones, Writer/Photographer: Lorrie holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree from Emerson College, Boston, Massachusetts, in Creative Writing, Literature and Publishing. Aside from working at an advertising agency in Manchester, New Hampshire, Lorrie enjoys spending her free time playing paintball, covering paintball events as a writer and photographer, canoeing, kayaking, camping, hiking and traveling.  

 

 

 

Jes Sharai, Contributing Editor: Jes “Jester” Sharai has been involved in paintball since 2000 when his son Pierce introduced him. He was immediately hooked. His concentration is in recreational and scenario play. XO of the Hired Gunz Scenario Team, he is the manager of Gunfighter Paintball Games & Pro Shop in Mandeville, LA. Jes is also a multi-line factory certified tech. He started writing for Crossfire Magazine and PB2X in 2001, as the SE Locals editor, and added work at RECON & Paintball Sports Mag between then and the present. He’s also a “Super Moderator” for the popular Southern rec/scenario web forum site, www.PBJunkie.com.

 

 

 

Joey Marshall, Marketing: Joey Marshall has been involved in paintball for more than a decade as a player, writer, photographer and assistant magazine editor. He recently earned a degree in marketing at George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia. Joey also is an owner of a web development company called Sire Designs.

 

 

 

 

Daniel Earl Williams, D.C., Feature Writer/Health & Fitness Adviser: Dr. Daniel Earl Williams D.C., a practicing chiropractor, personal trainer, and nutrition counselor, is a graduate of Parkland Community College and the National College of Chiropractic. In 2002 he established and manages Firemark Paintball, an outdoor Christian paintball facility in central Illinois.  He has been an active paintball player for the past eight years. Using his extensive knowledge and experience, he has helped many athletes and paintball players improve their abilities on and off the field. He is Tippmann Sports tech and Kee Action Sports tech certified repairing multiple guns and hoppers. He is an accomplished speaker, giving several Chiropractic and Paintball presentations in Central Illinois. He has written articles for magazines and is presently working on a book for Paintball players. He has worked with local community governments, wedding planners, National Guard, and businesses; coordinating birthdays, bachelor parties, business games, war games, etc. He is an accomplished animal Chiropractor as well, enabling a local Newfoundland dog to become a Grand Champion. In his spare time he has trained Arabian horses and practice martial Arts.

 

Tommy Marshall, Web Development: Like his brother Joey, Tommy Marshall has been involved in the game of paintball for many years, He's been on the shooting end of a camera at several major national events and he's been designing, developing and hosting websites for several years. Tommy currently attends George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia. 

 

 

 

 

Chris Alessio Feature  Writer: Chris is addicted to paintball and he's not ashamed to admit it. Chris started playing paintball in 1999 at a friend’s bachelor party and was instantly hooked. A few years ago he graduated from paintball, to scenario paintball. It’s a little more hardcore and sometimes I don’t come home for days on end. I am also a former alternate for the SPPL team, California Gridlock, and founding member and Captain of the West Coast scenario team B.F.T. Chris was a regular contributor in Paintball 2Xtremes Magazine, covering the West Coast field and store scene as well as scenario paintball events.

 

 

Chris Remuzzi, contributing Editor: Chris is a professional paintball player, writer and business consultant based in our nation’s capitol, Washington DC. Contracting the paintball fever at the age of 10 he has survived in a game that is constantly changing with massive shifts in technologies, leagues, and formats. He has “lived the dream” for over a decade traveling around the globe playing professional paintball. Throughout his career he’s stayed loyal to his original team Bad Company despite numerous offers.
